Just a day after it was believed that Liverpool would seal the transfer of Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, Italian media outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported that Manchester United have also asked Sampdoria about the availability of the World Cup hero.
It is believed that Louis Van Gaal wants Romero as the back up for David De Gea, while reigning Europa League Champions Sevilla are also interested in the player.
The 27 year old who returned to Sampdoria after a season loan from French side Monaco does not fit into the plans of the Italian club and his future looks certain to be away from his current surroundings.
It was earlier believed that Liverpool have almost reached an agreement to sign the shot stopper as Mino Raiola (same agent of Balotelli) has arrived in England to complete the transfer.
But the recent developments will come as a major stumbling block for the Reds to sign a well recognized deputy for Simon Mignolet as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to continue his rebuilding of the squad in what has been a busy transfer window for the Anfield outfit.
