According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona are lining up a move for Arsenal forward Robin Van Persie.
According to their report, Van Persie will take over for Thierry Henry, who the club feels would prefer a return to England so that he can be closer to his daughter.
Van Persie, who has had an excellent start to the season, was recently linked with AC Milan, but it’s hard to see Arsene Wenger allowing Van Persie to leave unless an astronomical offer (or one including Henry) came in from Barca.
If Henry does return to England, it would seem that the only place he’d go is Arsenal. Sure, it’d be nice to see him elsewhere, but there are just some players who just fit a certain place, and that’s the case with Henry and Arsenal.
Henry has done well in his time at Barca, scoring 16 goals last season and nine so far this season, including a hat trick in a 4-0 demolition of Valencia earlier this month. But, if the opportunity arose for him to return to a place where he went from a pretty good player to a world-class star and had many individual and team successes, it’d be hard for him to turn it down, I would think.
Would you like to see Henry return to Arsenal one day? Would some sort of swap deal involving he and Van Persie be a good deal for both Arsenal and Barcelona?
