According to reports from Spanish media outlet AS, Manchester United have set €150m aside to sign Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale. The report claims that the Galacticos already knows United’s intentions but are unwilling to sell the former Tottenham player.
AS claim that United’s recent signings in the form of Juan Mata, Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera and Radamel Falcao hint that the Red Devils are willing to splash the cash to achieve success in the coming season.
As of now Louis Van Gaal’s side want to finish in the top four so that they can clinch a Champions League berth for the coming season. The report also clearly underlines that senior figures at the Old Trafford side are willing to bust the bank to acquire the signature of the Welshman.
In fact in one of our recent interviews with eminent Football presenter John Dykes, he had mentioned that “The headline writers are happy with the word Gaal-acticos with the AA for Van Gaal but I think United are more likely to spend in the summer. History have told us that big clubs when they spend, usually spend more money sensibly in the summer. January transfer window is more of a desperation time.”
Bale however has a contract with Real till 2019 and had insisted that he is happy at the Spanish capital, “I am very happy. I am happy here, I still have many years of my contract left (until 2019) and I want to continue winning titles at Real Madrid.”
This presents an interesting scenario for United. Only yesterday we had reported that Real are interested to sign United goalkeeper David De Gea by testing the Manchester side’s resolve for the Spaniard. So will Van Gaal offer the goalkeeper as bait to land Bale? Only time shall tell
