As we come to the business end of the season, there’s still so much yet to be decided in the Premier League. So, with the international break putting a pause on the domestic campaign, we asked Sportslens readers if they cared about it so far into the season.

The response was fairly one sided, with over 70% of Sportslens readers responding NO to the poll put out on social media. It’s fair to say not many England fans are interested this time round.

Why Do England Fans Not Care?

Being this far into the season, with just 10 games to go in the Premier League for most teams, it’s understandable why fans wouldn’t be interested in an international break. Especially with so much yet to be firmed, in one of the most competitive Premier League seasons to date.

No side is nailed on to be relegated, with just four points separating 12th place Crystal Palace, and bottom of the league Southampton. Also, even with Arsenal leading at the top by eight points, Manchester City in second place still have every chance to win the lot. They have a game in hand on the Gunners, and still have to play them on home turf.

Besides, England in the past year or so haven’t been good at all. They were knocked out of the World Cup in Qatar by France in the quarter-finals in horrible fashion as captain Harry Kane skied a late penalty. Following that defeat to the French, many called for Gareth Southgate to be sacked. However, it didn’t happen and he’s still in charge.

There’s not too much to attract England fans to watch the side, especially as we edge closer to the end of the season.

The Three Lions face Italy and Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifiers this week. Their next round of matches after this fall a few weeks after the season is concluded, in mid-June.
