What is a Horse Bet Calculator

You can use our horse racing bet calculator free of charge to work out any bets you have on this particular sport. Many of the most popular types of bet we know in the UK today were first developed for betting on the horses. They call it the sport of kings, but ordinary people have been gambling on races for centuries.

Instead of doing the mental arithmetic yourself, view the horse bet calculator payout by inputting information into our automated service. As we shall see, there is plenty more than a win only wager available when it comes to horse racing gambling options. More on that later, though.

The idea behind a free bet calculator on horse racing is very simple. Whatever type of wager you place on the best UK betting sites, you want to know what you stand to gain. There’s both profit (your winnings) and the return (winnings plus the stake) to consider here. A horse bet payout calculator tells you about both and ours is no different.

How to Use a Horse Racing Bet Calculator

This is how you use our horse bet calculator to work out the potential return and winnings from any racing wagers. It’s so user friendly that everything boils down to six simple steps:

  1. Select the bet type from the list across the top of the calculator.
  2. Choose the betting odds format. With horse racing wagers, it’s traditionally fractions.
  3. Enter the bet amount or stake you gambled and odds taken. With fractional odds, the numerator goes in the left-hand box and denominator in the other.
  4. Input any Rule 4 deductions that apply to your bet. More on those below.
  5. Pick the outcome of your bet in the Results box: Won, Placed, Dead Heat, Lost or Void.
  6. Now hit calculate. Total Return displays in the box next to the stake. Total Profit is in the right-hand box.

Rule 4 Deductions & Dead Heats

There are some unique deductions that can happen to your wagers on horse racing betting sites that alter both winnings and returns. These are Rule 4 deductions if there’s a non-runner and if a dead heat happens. We’ve built those options in to reflect the horse bet calculator payout when adjusted for them.

If you select the Dead Heat as the result of a wager using our horse bet calculator, it displays half your stake to the full starting price (SP). That’s on the premise of the judge not being able to split two horses involved in a photo finish.

A Rule 4 deduction happens when there’s a non-runner in a race at odds of 14/1 (15.00) or shorter. They apply in intervals of five pence to every pound sterling wagered increasing based on the price when withdrawn.

It’s worth knowing that Rule 4 does not apply to ante post betting you have done on horse races. The bookies cannot use such deductions on those wagers, because the final field of runners hadn’t been declared. For when Rule 4 does apply, the table below has more:

The Rule 4 Deductions in More Detail

Rule 4 Deductions Odds Range
None Over 14/1 (over 15.00)
5p in £1 10/1 to 14/1 (11.00 to 15.00)
10p in £1 6/1 to 19/2 (7.00 to 10.50)
15p in £1 9/2 to 11/2 (5.50 to 6.50)
20p in £1 16/5 to 4/1 (4.20 to 5.00)
25p in £1 12/5 to 3/1 (3.40 to 4.00)
30p in £1 9/5 to 9/4 (2.80 to 3.25)
35p in £1 8/5 to 7/4 (2.60 to 2.75)
40p in £1 5/4 to 6/4 (2.25 to 2.50)
45p in £1 Evens to 6/5 (2.00 to 2.20)
50p in £1 20/21 to 5/6 (1.95 to 1.83)
55p in £1 4/5 to 4/6 (1.80 to 1.66)
60p in £1 8/13 to 4/7 (1.62 to 1.57)
65p in £1 8/15 to 4/9 (1.53 to 1.45)
70p in £1 2/5 to 1/3 (1.40 to 1.33)
75p in £1 3/10 to 2/7 (1.30 to 1.29)
80p in £1 1/4 to 1/5 (1.25 to 1.20)
85p in £1 2/11 to 2/17 (1.18 to 1.12)
90p in £1 1/9 or shorter (1.11 and shorter)

Using the Horse Bet Calculator Each Way

When it comes to horse racing, an each way bet is among the most popular wager types available to punters. This is where you back horses for both the win and the place, although the precise terms depend on certain variables. These are the number of runners involved and whether it’s a conditions race of a handicap.

The horse racing each way bet calculator allows you to work out what you get in both outcomes where this wager yields a return. In other words, you can see what if any winning there are if one of your punts wins or places. Accessing our each way horse bet calculator is easy. Simply hit Yes instead of No under the Each Way.

You then enter the right fraction under Place Terms. Although there are many options in the horse bet calculator each way here, you will use a quarter or a fifth of outright odds for these wagers. Each way punts in other sports betting markets may have different, more favourable fractions.

A quarter is for handicaps with 16 or more runners in them, or conditions races with five, six or seven horses taking part. All other events use a fifth of outright odds as the fraction. The each way horse bet calculator doesn’t work for any races with four or fewer runners in as bookmakers don’t offer this wager on events with such small fields.

Horse Bet Accumulator Calculator

While accumulators are most popular on football betting sites, many punters enjoy placing them across horse racing cards and festivals too. With that in mind, our bet calculator on horse racing includes this option too. There are actually quite a lot of dedicated multiple and combination bets you’ll find on this particular sport like the Trixie, Yankee, Goliath and Super Heinz.

Any decent bet calculator for horse racing knows this only too well. Accumulators, well accumulate, as the odds for the number of selections get multiplied together. That can be complicated maths, so our horse bet accumulator calculator does it all for you. It doesn’t matter how many legs there are to your wager, we can work it out!

You can also place accas each way. Figuring those out with our horse bet calculator is a good idea. The arithmetic becomes even more complex. A horse racing each way bet accumulator calculator is a real godsend for punters. Look out for so-called system bets like a Lucky 15 as well. You can even work these out for free.

It’s all thanks to our horse race bet calculator. Working out 15 wagers in one with all the permutations and potentially some aspects returning nothing, while others paying out is a real headache for the average punter. Take all that hassle out by using the horse racing bet calculator on Lucky 15 wagers too.

Other Popular Wagers With Our Bet Calculator

You don’t just have to use the horse bet calculator for working out racing wagers. It works for any punt on sports that you’ve put on. We have touched on this with the each way and Lucky 15 bets. Check out some of the other wager types that you can figure out through our bet calculator on horse racing today:
