Tottenham Hotspur are now in pole position to sign Sampdoria ace Mikkel Damsgaard, according to a report from Calcio Mercato.
Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo needs to bolster his ranks with more attack-minded midfield talent to help supplement the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
One player to have been persistently linked with a move to Tottenham over the past month or so is Damsgaard (Club Doria 46).
And it seems as though the North London outfit are about to ramp up their interest in the talented Danish star.
Tottenham ready to bid £21 million for Damsgaard
That’s according to Calcio Mercato, who claim that Fabio Paratici is a big fan of the 21-year-old playmaker.
Spurs are allegedly ready to offer €25 million for the Sampdoria starlet and lead the race for his signature.
Damsgaard was in sensational form for Denmark at the European Championships this summer.
He scored an absolutely worldie against England in the semi-final that seemed to catch the attention of numerous clubs around the globe.
Out of all those interested parties, Tottenham are in prime position to win the race for his services.
The youngster is a left-winger by trade. However, he can also operate in the central midfield and centre-forward positions.
Damsgaard is energetic, dynamic and plays with a real kind of enthusiasm that can be infectious to his teammates.
£21m probably won’t be enough to get a deal done for the Dane. Perhaps if Tottenham offer closer to £30m they will be able to sign him.
Christian Eriksen is a huge fan of the young Sampdoria star, according to TV2.
Damsgaard is such an exciting young talent – he would be more than worth that kind of fee for Spurs.
