It appears that any efforts to pry Craig Bellamy away from West Ham in January are going to be futile.
West Ham, despite their financial straits, rejected Tottenham’s initial £6m offer for the Welsh striker, and also being thrown in the trash bin was a £7.5m offer from Manchester City.
Now comes the clearest indication yet that the Hammers won’t sell Bellamy unless it’s for a price that no one might be willing to pay, as the Daily Mail has reported that Tottenham’s doubled offer of £12m has been turned down.
West Ham have put their valuation of Bellamy at £12m, but obviously it doesn’t mean that they’re going to accept offers that meet their valuation.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will try to have better luck with Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given, as they could be set to make a cash plus Gareth Bale offer for the Irishman. Given could be looked at as a replacement for Gomes, who’s being linked with a return to PSV.
However, they could be facing some stiff competition from Arsenal, who have made an £8m offer for Given. Plenty of Arsenal and Tottenham supporters could make arguments on both sides of the fence about whether or not their club needs a new keeper, but if they’re pursuing one, then…
