Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly chasing the highly rated Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen and are preparing a £12 million bid for his services, according to reports from Danish source BT.
The 21-year-old is already one of the hottest properties in Europe and has been chased by almost all the top European heavy weights at various points of time in the last few seasons. He was keen to make a switch in the summer and it seems like Spurs are going to make the first official move for him.
The possibility of the transfer has been mentioned by football agent Carrie Baird in the morning, as she tweeted “Spurs will go in for Eriksen.”
The North Londoners are poised to lose Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a world record transfer fee in the next few days, and Andre Villas-Boas is looking to revamp the squad with quality purchases.
Although, Eriksen is not seen as a direct replacement for Bale, but the youngster would definitely provide an alternative creative outlay for Spurs, especially at the middle of the park. The Denmark international is adept at finding key passes for his team-mates, and has scored 32 goals already in 161 appearances for Ajax.
Spurs have bolstered their squad in the summer and have already landed a few quality players like Nacer Chadli, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Roberto Soldado. And if the reports are to be believed, they are also in the chase for Roma’s mercurial talent Erik Lamela. No doubt, the squad will be the envy for all the top teams in England, should Spurs strike a deal for Eriksen in the next few days.
Tottenham have started the season on a high too, winning both their league games by 1-0 margin against Crystal Palace and Swansea City, where new signing Soldado scored match winning goals in both the games through penalties.
