Although football stadiums in Italy have been charred with riots, violence and hooligans, but the football played there is hard to ignore.
The literally-fierce rivalry of Roma and Lazio is well known but it is one that has learned to co-exist in one stadium. The same goes for AC Milan and Inter Milan but their rivalry is not as wild, to say the least.
Speaking of stadiums, there are 53 stadiums in Italy with the capacity of 10,000 or more. Out of the current twenty teams competiting in the Serie A, Siena has the smallest stadium with a capacity of over 15,000. While the San Siro is the largest stadium in Italy with a capacity of just over 80,000.
Below is the gallery of overhead shots of the 17 stadiums hosting Serie A this season (courtesy of Google Maps and Bing Maps). 17 stadiums because Genoa and Sampdoria also share the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, in addition to Roma/Lazio and Milan/Inter.
