With the Premier League season coming to an end, fixture congestion and rescheduling brings us a handful of blockbuster midweek fixtures for teams that have been competing in Europe or will be competing in cup finals.

Manchester United v Leicester – Tuesday
Two days after Manchester United’s away game to Aston Villa, the game was originally moved midweek to allow Leicester City and Chelsea to compete in the FA Cup final this weekend.
However, with United’s Liverpool game from last week rescheduled to this week, it means the Red Devils will be playing three games in five days (four in eight, including the Europa League semi-final last week).
Leicester suffered a surprise 4-2 defeat at home last time out and are now five points ahead of West Ham United and six in front of Liverpool in the Premier League table, although the Reds have a game in hand.
United would be happy to get out of this game injury-free and without losing at home, while Leicester – with one eye on the FA Cup final – would love to get a win to almost confirm Champions League football and go into the final on a high.
Southampton v Crystal Palace – Tuesday
Southampton – safe from relegation thanks to Fulham losing to Burnley at home on Monday – host Crystal Palace on Tuesday night in a somewhat pointless game.
The Saints are 18th in the form table and coming off a 2-0 away defeat to Liverpool. Palace won their last away game 2-0 at bottom-placed Sheffield United and will be hoping to repeat the feat on Tuesday night.
Chelsea v Arsenal – Wednesday
Chelsea’s rapid change in fortunes since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment in January is reflected in their steep rise in the Premier League table and their progress to the Champions League final.
The Blues are third in the Premier League with Champions League football next season is almost confirmed.
Chelsea are also in the FA Cup final this weekend, and as their win against Manchester City last weekend shows, fully capable of winning two trophies this season.
Arsenal’s season is over – losing in the Europa League semi-final and ninth in the league table with little chance of making it to Champions League or Europa League.
Manager Mikel Arteta has also come under scrutiny, with managerial replacements being discussed.
This is the game for Arsenal to show up and regain some pride, but it’s likely to be another Chelsea win.
Aston Villa v Everton – Thursday
The hosts spoiled Everton’s outside chances of a top-six finish with an away win in the reverse fixture and could put the nail in the coffin for Everton’s season with another win.
Everton are coming off an ‘upset’ of their own with a 1-0 away win against West Ham, who had been pushing for a Champions League spot.
With Ollie Watkins suspended, Villa will have a tough game on their hands, so we are expecting a draw.
Manchester United v Liverpool – Thursday
The United vs Liverpool game was rescheduled after fan protests outside the Lowry Hotel prevented player movement, while protests outside the Old Trafford stadium spilt onto the pitch leading to the game being postponed.
More protests are planned for Thursday, although the police are anticipating the disruption this time and are likely to control proceedings.
This will be United’s fourth game in eight days, and Liverpool will aim to capitalise on this by upping the tempo and dominating the game.
A win for Liverpool will move them into fifth, and with an outside chance to secure Champions League football should Leicester have a complete meltdown on the run-in.
