Templegate’s Cheltenham Tips – Day Four
1.30 Triumph Hurdle – VAUBAN (NB) @ 13/8 with BetUK
The one to beat after his easy win in the Spring Juvenille Hurdle at Leopardstown last time out. Looks another big chance for the Willie Mullins yard at the meeting and expected to deliver.
2.10 County Hurdle – COLONEL MUSTARD @ 7/1 with BetUK
Third to Sir Gerhard last time out in Ireland and the form of that run took a big boost earlier in the week and prior to that was runner-up to Jonbon at Ascot.
2.50 Albert Bartlett Nov Hurdle – HILLCREST @ 5/2 with BetUK
No secret the Henry Daly yard think a lot of this horse and it’s easy to see why having won 4 of his 5 starts over hurdles – unseated in the other. Bounced back to winning ways last time with an easy win at Haydock and can continue his progression.
3.30 Cheltenham Gold Cup – A PLUS TARD (NAP) @ 11/4 with BetUK
Second in the race 12 months ago but another year older and stronger here. Has returned this season in tip-top form and another huge run is expected with Rachael Blackmore riding.
4.10 St James’s Hunters’ Chase – BOB AND CO @ 13/2 with BetUK
Was going well in this race last year until he unseated his jockey. Ran a cracker to be only 2 lengths behind Cousin Pascal last time at Haydock and with that coming off a 267-day break can be expected to be better for it. Trainer Paul Nicholls also has a good record in the race.
4.50 Mares’ Chase – MOUNT IDA @ 2/1 with BetUK
Came from the clouds to win the Kim Muir at the Festival last season and has progressed this season into a nice chasing mare. Beat Elimay last time out giving weight and more of the same is expected.
5.30 Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle – HOLLOW GAMES @ 13/2 with BetUK
Has been a good race for the Elliott yard in recent times and they can go well again with this one. Not beaten far in a Grade One last time out at Leopardstown and is yet to be out of the first three from 4 runs over hurdles.
