Three-year-old progeny of the sire Awtaad have a good record in early season (March to June) turf races, winning 18 of their 103 starts for a profit of £44.34 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who had the benefit of a relatively recent outing (within eight weeks) were 15 from 64 for a profit of £70.18. AUSTRIAN THEORY shaped as though the extra furlong would suit when third in a 1m1f Listed race here on his reappearance 15 days ago and might be able to dominate his three rivals from the outset. He was a general 16-1 shot at the time of writing and that looks too big.

STRATEGIC FORTUNE (system – sire Power at Wolverhampton)
Progeny of the sire Power have a 22 from 136 record on Wolverhampton’s Tapeta surface for a profit of £101.60 to a £1 level stake at SP. In races over 9.4f or further the strike-rate is 27.6% (eight from 29) for a profit of £56.75. STRATEGIC FORTUNE scored over course and distance last time out and can follow up. OOT MA WAY is a qualifier on the same angle and could be the one for the forecast.

HARSWELL DUKE (system – Roger Fell, all-weather, second run for the yard)
In-form Roger Fell does well at the second time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, with those who run on the all-weather winning six of their 49 starts for a profit of £23.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. At Newcastle only, the score is five from 29 for a profit of £36.75. HARSWELL DUKE didn’t have the best of draws when a 25-1 fifth of 16 at Redcar on his stable debut and the fourth, Boardman, has boosted the form. He’s bred to appreciate the switch to Tapeta for the first time and looks good value at around the 8-1 mark.
