Manchester United v West Ham United
English Premier League
Old Trafford – Manchester, England
23 February 2010 – 20:00 GMT
Manchester United looks to recover from a 1-3 loss at Everton as they host West Ham in midweek EPL match.
Man U v West Ham Preview
West Ham head into the match after a strong 3-0 home win against Hull City on Saturday. United are looking to gain ground on league leaders Chelsea, who they now trail by four points after the weekend loss at Goodison Park.
The Red Devils will be playing their third match in seven days and fatigue could definitely be a factor. They will need someone to step up to give support to Wayne Rooney, who has provided most of the goals for the team. Besides the offense, the United defense was exposed several times in the match and will have to deal with West Ham striker Carlton Cole who has nine goals in the EPL (and has scored in his last two matches).
West Ham has been in or near the relegation zone for most of the season but two wins in a row has them in the middle of the table. Their road record has been poor (1-5-7) and they will have their hands full at Old Trafford. While Rooney will be the focus of the defense, Manchester United have several quality players on their roster that can win the game.
Manchester United have only lost one match at home, conceded eight goals, and will definitely be the favorites to get the three points on Tuesday. After a loss, Sir Alex Ferguson will have the Red Devils focused and ready to play. West Ham lost the earlier meeting 0-4 and Tuesday should be a similar result.
