According to Spanish publication, SuperDeporte, Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested in Valencia defender, Nicolas Otamendi.
Both clubs have met with his agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal this week and are hoping to conclude a deal for the La Liga centre back. Otamendi has arguably been the best centre back in Spain this season, alongside Gerard Pique.
The Argentine is now looking forward to another challenge and is willing to force a move through if his suitors decide to match Valencia’s asking price.
Otamendi has now travelled from Buenos Aires to Madrid and is waiting for further instructions from his agent before joining up with the Valencia squad for pre-season training. If the player does not receive assurances about a move soon, he will travel to Valencia and start his pre-season training.
Otamendi is convinced that an agreement can be reached for his transfer and that he will be playing in different colours next season. Further, he is also hoping that Valencia will drop his asking price ad help him complete a move to England.
Both United and City are in desperate need of a world class centre back and Otamendi would be the perfect addition.
The Argentine is good enough to improve most teams in the world and certainly every side in the Premier League.
It seems that the transfer is set to drag on towards the end of the window, but considering Otamendi’s stance on the situation, his departure might be a question of when and not if.
