The England International enjoyed an outstanding season and scored 31 goals in his first full season for the London club. It is believed that United are planning to bid around 50 million pounds for the Tottenham star.
Manchester United have lacked a clinical presence upfront this season and Van Gaal believes that Harry Kane can be the man to address his goalscoring problems.
Dutchman Robin Van Persie has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and with Falcao gone, Van Gaal is short on the striking department and sees the England international as a perfect partner for his international teammate and captain, Wayne Rooney.
Back in the Champions League, Van Gaal knows the importance to get a proper goalscorer for next season. Kane has had superb Europa campaign and has shown that he is ready to perform in Europe.
Although Tottenham are reluctant to let go of their prized asset, a bid of 50 million pound could well convince Daniel Levy. After all he has always been a willing seller for the right price. Here is how the fans have reacted to the news.
Seeing on @SkySportsNewsHQ that @ManUtd are interested in @hkane28. Thinking about it, he could be the next @WayneRooney for us! #mufc — Kelan McCafferty (@mufc_kelan) June 12, 2015
I rate Harry Kane (so long as he can keep his form as good as last season), can’t see us signing him though #MUFC

Would rather have Higuain if I’m honest. But Harry Kane isn’t bad either, he’s homegrown and had a good season for Spurs. #MUFC — Memphis (@atiff_afsar) June 12, 2015
Breaking:Man Utd are once again ignoring their obvious weaknesses and trying sign another striker. Harry Kane is good but seriously 50m?

Harry Kane – after one very good season he’s probably at best worth £20 million. 100% Spurs will be looking for around £50. #nahhthanks — Kane Lewis (@KaneLewis18) June 12, 2015
Harry Kane? After one good season. The fact that he’s a spurs fan, signed a new contract and Daniel Levy mean it will be £562725266278257826
