Ukrainian winger Yehven Konoplyanka has said that he feels some resentment over his failed move to Liverpool in January.
The 24-year-old was expected to make a deadline day move to Anfield from Ukrainian side FC Dnipro, but the deal failed to materialse, and Konoplyanka feels a little bitter at the outcome, telling reporters (via Goal.com),
“Not at all upset! Well, I will not hide it… there is a little resentment.
The winger is looking on the bright side however, and is eager to show his worth in upcoming games,
“We’ll play Tottenham [in the Europa League], one of the best teams in the English Premier League. We will go for it. I want to show my best.”
There was real confusion last Friday over Konoplyanka’s proposed transfer, with the deal obliterated when the window slammed shut at 11pm, after the winger reportedly passed a medical and agreed personal terms.
FC Dnipro have claimed that the lateness of the transfer had doomed it from the start, but have also said that they expect Brendan Rodgers’ side to return for Konoplyanka in the summer.
Dnipro’s executive director Andriy Rusol said (via the Daily Star),
“There was no time to organise the technical transfer.
“If Konoplyanka continues in the same train and play the way he plays, it’s a matter of time before he goes into a good European club.
“A thousand per cent sure that Liverpool will attempt to buy Yehven in the summer.
“And with plenty of experience in dealing with our club, that will make it more organised and likely to succeed.
“If they had come a little earlier, things would have been different.”
What do you think? Are there any Liverpool fans out there that feel the same resentment? Are you hoping Rodgers returns for the winger in the summer?Let me know in the comments below…
