According to the Daily Mirror, Juventus are eyeing a summer swoop for Liverpool duo Daniel Agger and Ryan Babel.
Agger has recently been linked with AC Milan thanks to his ongoing contract stalemate with Liverpool, and the Rossoneri could face competition from one of their Serie A rivals for the Danish defender.
After making an £11.5m move from Ajax in the summer of 2007, the Dutch international had a solid first campaign at Anfield, scoring 10 goals and chipping in with several assists. However, he’s been pretty quiet thus far this season, with only two goals to his credit, and starting opportunities have not been regular.
Babel’s short-term future has already been decided, as Rafa Benitez nipped his hopes of making a loan move in the bud, but if his form doesn’t pick up through the remainder of the season, Juventus and several other clubs could be lining up moves for him in the summer. Tottenham have already been linked with a January move for Babel, but that would seem to be out of the question at this point.
Selling both could help fund a few summer signings, and though I don’t see Agger leaving unless the contract situation reaches the point of no return, a can’t-resist offer for both could tip the scales and see both land in Italy.
