According to reports in TMW, Chelsea have tabled a whopping €38m bid for AS Roma defender Mehdi Benatia including young striker Romelu Lukaku in the deal. The story claims that the Giallorossi have received a bid with the club’s Director of Football Walter Sabatini to shed light on the matter in the coming days.
We had earlier reported that Chelsea were seeking the possibility to sign the 27 year old who has enjoyed a superb season for Rudi Garcia’s side in the recently concluded Serie A campaign.
The player however had himself admitted of his desire to play for Spanish Giants Barcelona claiming, “It is the dream for every footballer to play for the Camp Nou side.”
It is believed that Manchester United are also interested in the Wolves’ defender who, in the prime of his career will seek a chance to play one of the European giants who have realistic expectations in the next season’s Champions League.
The inclusion of Romelu Lukaku certainly denoted that Jose Mourinho is desperate to get rid of the young Belgian striker who has enjoyed yet another prolific season on loan, this time at Everton scoring 15 goals and mustering six assists in 31 appearances for the Toffees in the league.
