According to the News of the World, Manchester United keeper Ben Foster is ready to leave Manchester United in search of more first-team opportunities.
Thanks to injuries and Edwin Van der Sar refusing to go away quietly, Foster hasn’t made quite the expected impact at United yet, and a winter transfer request could be in the cards.
Foster’s got the abilities to be Manchester United’s #1 at some point, but with Van der Sar signing on for another season (and who knows, he might not even hang it up then!), Foster has to think realistically. He’s 25, and for the sake of his future and his ambitions of being England’s #1 in the future, a move might be in his best interests. Van der Sar’s still got a lot left, and with Tomasz Kuszczak also in the running to be his successor, nothing is assured.
Sir Alex Ferguson may be reluctant to consider selling Foster, so he might prefer letting him go on loan, if anything. However, knowing that he can’t assure Foster of anything, he may well have to consider a sale if the right offer comes in.
Should Foster leave United for the sake of his career, or should he be patient and wait until he gets his chance at United?
