Everton have been linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven right-back Denzel Dumfries in recent weeks.
According to the Italian newspaper Il Mattino (via Sport Witness), the Premier League club are now leading the chase to sign the 25-year-old defender.
Napoli are also keen on the Dutch international, who is currently focused on making his mark during the European Championships with his country.
The full-back contributed four goals and nine assists in all competitions for PSV this past season and will be keen to impress this summer.
PSV will be hoping that he can perform at a high level during the tournament to inflate his transfer value.
Dumfries has a contract with PSV until the summer of 2023 and is rumoured to be valued at around £15 million.
Everton need to find a quality long term replacement for Seamus Coleman, and the links with Dumfries are unsurprising.
However, the Toffees are yet to appoint a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, although Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly close to taking over.
The 47-year-old Portuguese manager may have his own preferred targets, and it is unclear how the situation will unfold over the coming weeks.
