Defending champions Karachi Kings gave an outstanding performance in the opening match of PSL 2021 as they easily defeated Quetta Gladiators by seven wickets on Saturday.
The Gladiators were bowled out for 121 runs at the National Stadium, Karachi, with brilliant bowling from the home side ensuring the opposition’s wickets fall at regular intervals.
Youngster Arshad Iqbal gave a standout performance by claiming three wickets, while star player Mohammad Amir proved himself instrumental with his economical bowling.
Despite losing Sharjeel Khan early, the Kings’ victory never looked in doubt and they easily went on to reach their target with seven wickets in hand.
Babar Azam contributed 24 runs off 20 balls before falling victim to Muhammad Hasnain. However, it was Joe Clarke’s terrific 46 runs that swung the game massively in favour of Karachi.
While Afghan cricketer Mohammad Nabi’s scintillating 30 runs greatly helped to make it an easy contest for the chasing team.
Karachi will now play against Islamabad United, while Quetta Gladiators will be in action against Lahore Qalandars tomorrow.
