One of the hottest bits of news off the presses today is that Chelsea are moving in on Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano, with £20m the price that the Blues are willing to pay for the Brazilian international.
Chelsea’s search for a new forward has seen them linked with the likes of Michael Owen, Sanli Tuncay, Vagner Love, and Andrei Arshavin, but according to reports, their attention is now on the 28-year-old, who scored 34 goals in all competitions last season.
Fabiano has been linked with a €28m move to Manchester City recently, and Sevilla’s president said that they weren’t going to consider selling Fabiano. And while Sevilla are now out of Europe after Thursday’s surprise exit at the hands of Sampdoria, they are still in the thick of things in La Liga, so Chelsea’s attempts might be futile, at least in regards to January.
However, if Sevilla did relent in their stance, Fabiano would likely be interested in a move to a club where he could have a chance of adding a Champions League trophy to the two UEFA Cup titles he already has from his time with Sevilla.
