Chelsea have made a fresh approach for Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld and the Blues are ready to include Filipe Luis as a part of the deal.
Luis joined Chelsea last summer from Atletico Madrid for a reported fee of £15.8m but the Brazilian has failed to make a big impression, as Jose Mourinho mainly used Cesar Azpilicueta instead in the left back position.
The 29-year-old defender has expressed his desire to return back to Atletico, and Chelsea are looking at that option to fork out a deal for Alderweireld.
is a Belgium defender who impressed on loan at Southampton last season. The Saints are looking at the option of signing him permanently, by paying around £7m to Atletico, but the Rojibalncos can exercise a counter-clause that will allow them to cancel the agreement by paying £2m to the Premier club should the Belgium move to another club.
Atletico feel they can get over £15m for the defender, who would provide a strong competition for John Terry and Gary cahill, should he make the move. The Times also report 20-year-old defender Kurt Zouma could be allowed to leave on loan for experience.
