There has been much talk going around Barcelona after they have suffered loses at the hands of AC Milan and Real Madrid. Critics have gone on to say that their 11-point lead in La Liga is not enough and that these are signs of the end of an era.
How accurate their prediction is only time will tell but in my opinion there is still plenty of time to recover.
We must not forget that their head coach, Tito Vilanova, is suffering a cancer relapse and he is in New York getting the treatment for it. At such a time, it is nearly impossible for us to realise the true magnitude of the affect on the team.
This is only affecting Barcelona tactically – as evident in their recent performances – but also psychologically. Remember, Tito is not the only one getting treatment for cancer. Eric Abidal has been missing from action for quite some time as well.
On top of that, Barcelona has been playing with two lines of midfielders this season since David Villa has been left out for a majority of the season. Lionel Messi is the only one scoring goals for the Catalans and an additional striker could help their cause.
Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, spoke to the press and addressed both the issues mentioned above. If I’m not wrong, this is not the first time Barcelona has admitted their interest in a certain prodigy from Brazil – Neymar. Then again, who wouldn’t want to sign him.
Rosell was not only clear that the Barca scouts like Neymar but he also firmly stated that as long as he is the club president, Tito will remain the coach. Here’s the video of the interview:
