Manchester United are set to complete the €30m signing of Barcelona forward Pedro, after the club executive Ed Woodward travelled to Spain yesterday.
Woodward was present during Barcelona’s clash with Bilbao and was there to conclude the talks for Pedro.
The Spanish forward has been linked with a move away all summer and over the last few weeks it seems that he is indeed destined for Manchester United.
Although the Barcelona attacker was supposed to join up earlier after the sale of Angel Di Maria to PSG, Woodward is keen not to delay the transfer any longer and finalise a move this week.
Barcelona insist that they don’t want to let go of Pedro, but if a club meets his buyout clause, they are powerless.
Pedro is thought to be frustrated at the lack of game time and is keen to sign for United, where he is set to start regularly.
It is believed that Manchester United are set to offer 25 million euros upfront for Pedro and 5 million euros based on bonuses.
Earlier last week, Manchester City entered the fray and offered to pay the 30 million euros in full and now Woodward is keen to wrap up the signing before the rivals make another move.
City already look set to steal United’s main defensive target in Otamendi and were sniffing around Pedro as well.
