Arsenal won’t even so much consider a move for Liverpool striker Robbie Keane in January, according to the Daily Star.
Keane has been linked with a quick move away from Anfield thanks to a slow start, but Arsene Wenger’s (alleged) quotes should put any speculation linking Arsenal with the Irish hit-man to bed before it gains any steam.
The chances of the move happening were slim to none as is. Keane is going to be given a lot more than half of a season to prove himself, and his goal at the Emirates in Sunday’s draw against the Gunners could serve as a crucial turning point for his form.
Besides that, it’s highly unlikely Liverpool would even so much as bat an eye about an offer from one of their title rivals, and even if they did, their asking price would be a little above Arsenal’s usual limits.
Arsenal will be hunting for reinforcements in at least one area come January, thanks to the news that Cesc Fabregas will be out for much of the remainder of the season. However, even though Wenger might be content with what he has up front, he could look for a bargain buy for the purposes of depth until Eduardo gets back to full fitness and Theo Walcott returns.
