Roma defender Antonio Rudiger has been linked with a move away from Serie A and Chelsea are in talks to sign him for 22 million Euros this summer.
The 23 year old centre back has been in great form for the Italian outfit this season and has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester United as well. With others not following up on their interest, the London club has decided to make the move for Rudiger. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen to add to his centre back options for next season.
According to reports, Rudiger’s agent met with Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia (Chelsea executive and an advisor to owner Roman Abramovich) today to discuss personal terms. The two clubs continue negotiations and it’s reported Roma are prepared to sell him for €22m.
Rudiger joined Roma on loan with an option to buy. The Italians have decided to take up their buying option and will now sell him for a profit after an impressive season in Italy.
Rudiger is a strong and athletic centre back with great positional sense. Only 23, the German is likely to develop under the tutelage of Conte. All things considered, it could be a very impressive move for the Blues if they manage to pull it off.
