According to reports from German media outlet Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign Javier Hernandez. Though the details of the deal are yet to be known, Kicker claim that Chicharito will be officially presented on Monday.

The Daily Mail reports that a fee of £12m has been agreed after Hernandez was told on Friday he would be allowed to leave. The 27 year old reportedly said goodbye to his teammates as he got off plane from Swansea on Sunday night. Manager Louis Van Gaal even gave a short speech thanking the striker for his service to the Old Trafford side.

The ever trusted and reliable Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Mexican will earn around £3.5 per year plus bonuses. We had reported earlier that West Ham are also interested in the player but Bayern are now close to complete the deal. The Hammers had offered £10m for the striker who never quite got going under Louis Van Gaal.

Hernandez had spent the last season on loan at Real Madrid but his spell at the Bernabeu was nothing short of disappointing scoring 7 goals in 23 games. The striker also came on as a substitute during United’s 4-0 over Brugge endured a nightmare cameo missing a penalty and an open goal.

With the impending sale of Hernandez, Van Gaal has just one striker available in his squad to choose from after Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie were also allowed to leave in the summer. The Old Trafford side have been on the lookout for a striker who can lead the line up front as Wayne Rooney’s struggles in front of goal continues.

So will United sign a striker before the transfer window slams shut in the next 48 hours?
