Premier League side Arsenal are struggling at the moment and club manager Arsene Wenger is seemingly willing to sign some established players in January. The Gunners have been linked with a number of players in the past few days and now the name of Giorgio Chiellini has been thrown into the hat.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Wenger is keen to sign the Italian international defender from Juventus in January in order to shore up his defence and more importantly replace the almost certain to depart William Gallas.
As mouth watering as it may seem, the problem is that Chiellini is very much happy at Juventus, who are certainly in a better position than Arsenal are at the moment. Juventus have reached the last 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League as group winners and are also in the race for the scudetto in the Italian Serie A.
Moreover, Chiellini signed a contract extension in the summer and it is unlikely that he shall move anywhere in the near future.
So Arsenal may better look elsewhere for defenders. Maybe Wenger’s favourite ‘hunting ground’ France?
