1:50pm Sky Bet Stakes Heritage Handicap 1m4f ITV: Wootton’sun @ 3/1

The first selection in our York Lucky 15 tips on Friday is WOOTTON’SUN. Richard Fahey’s gelding has not had a bad run so far yet this season, and continued to improve when seen last at the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot earlier this month when runner up to Scampi.

Ground was good to soft that day and with winning form on good to firm, should go well again here. He won on a faster surface in the run prior to that when landing the Old Newton Cup at Haydock showing how versatile he can be.

Former champion jockey Paul Hanagan will take the ride on Fahey’s four-year-old in what will be his final ever race before retiring. The 42-year-old has ridden 95 winners on the Knavesmire and after announcing his retirement earlier this week, this could be the perfect way to end his illustrious career at a track he loves.

2:25pm Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup (British Champions Series Race) Group 2 2m ITV: Quickthorn @ 3/1

Our second pick is in the hot Lonsdale Cup where we are backing QUICKTHORN to defend his crown. Hughie Morrison’s six-year-old won this race last year romping to a 14-length win, with his clever front running tactics.

His won with the same tactics last time out in the Goodwood Cup when scoring with no real challenge once again under Tom Marquand. We think he holds every chance of repeating history against rivals he has already comfortably beat this season.

The jockeys that finished behind Marquand and Quickthorn at Goodwood received plenty of criticism following the race, so you’d think that they will be on the ball a bit more this time around. However, we know how dangerous Quickthorn is from the front so if he adopts that tactic once again, he will likely be hard to catch.

3:00pm Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes Group 2 6f ITV: King’s Gamble @ 7/1

The third selection in our York Lucky 15 tips on Friday is KING’S GAMBLE. Ralph Beckett’s two-year-old won very well with plenty in hand on debut at Newmarket earlier this month, and is sure to improve here.

Yard’s runners always tend to improve a lot from debut to second race, so if that is the case here then King’s Gamble can put in a huge performance.

The son of Kingman is superbly bred and while this step up in grade is a big ask, we feel he has every chance of maintaining his unbeaten record. He is drawn nicely in stall 2, and won on similar ground on his only start so far with a lot left in the tank when eased down inside the final half furlong.

4:10pm Assured Data Protection EBF Fillies’ Stakes Heritage Handicap 1m2f ITV: Amanzoe @ 7/1

Our fourth and final selection is AMANZOE. William Haggas sends this filly out for the first time since seen last in this race last year so clearly feels she can go one better this time around after finishing runner-up to a handy sort.

Haggas is usually clever with his horses, and will not rush them into races when not prepared – indicating she is ready now.

Top trainer having a solid season so far and given Amanzoe’s promising three-year-old campaign, he is one worth following now as a four-year-old on his reappearance.

What Is a Lucky 15 Bet?

If you are not sure what a Lucky 15 bet is – let us explain.

In short, a Lucky 15 bet will involve 4 HORSES and these picks are permed up in singles, doubles, trebles and a 4-fold.

With the four horses, there are 15 bets across four different selections – hence where the name ‘Lucky 15’ comes from.

Therefore, the more of your four horses to win, means a bigger return. While if only one horse wins, then you are left with just one of the 15 bets – a single.

The Lucky 15 Bet Perms are: 4 single bets, 6 doubles, 4 trebles, and 1 four-fold accumulator.
