Friday 25th August Frankie Dettori York Ebor Festival Rides

2:25pm – Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup (British Champions Series Race) Group 2 2m ITV: COURAGE MON AMI @ 3/1

The first of Frankie Dettori’s York rides on Friday see him partner up with Ascot Gold Cup winner COURAGE MON AMI in the Lonsdale Cup.

Sensational improvement to go from Goodwood 1m 6f handicap success on reappearance to Gold Cup glory at Royal Ascot on quick ground. Caught too far back on softer surface at the Glorious meeting latest and weakened into sixth. More galloping track should suit the four-year-old gelding.

Dettori and Courage Mon Ami could be firmly in the mix if ridden more positively than last time at when a disappointing sixth at Glorious Goodwood. Horse and jockey are familiar with each other, so there is every chance of an emphatic win here for the Wathnan Racing owned Courage Mon Ami.

Definitely Frankie Dettori‘s biggest chance of a winner on Friday at the York Ebor Festival.

3:35pm – Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes Group 1 5f ITV: TWILIGHT CALLS @ 16/1

TWILIGHT CALLS is Frankie’s second and final ride on day 3 of the Ebor Festival, and he teams up with trainer Henry Candy in the featured race of the day – the Nunthorpe Stakes.

The five-year-old is a relative outsider with the best horse racing betting sites to win here, but the gelding certainly has each-way claims under the ride of Dettori for the Cheveley Park Studs.

He was fourth at Royal Ascot last time out behind the likes of Highfield Princess and Bradsell, who he will have to beat today if he is to win the Nunthorpe Stakes and claim his first win since last April at Newmarket.

Twilight Calls runs off top weight of 9st 13lbs, so it is a big ask for him to improve so drastically to beat the favourites in the Nunthorpe Stakes at 3:35pm in the featured race of the afternoon on Friday. However, you can never write off Frankie Dettori – especially when riding a Cheveley Park Stud horse.
