Andrew found 17-2 Huntingdon winner MAMMIES BOY from his three stats-based selections on Thursday and has four more on Friday, May 10th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below..

ASCOT 4.00

WESTERN (system – Richard Hannon, second run since gelded)

Since the beginning of 2018, Richard Hannon has a 26 from 156 record with his runners having their second start since a gelding operation (16.7% strike-rate) and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £18.02 to the usual £1 stake. Those who finished in the top six on their latest outing were 24 from 112 (21.4%) for a profit of £50.52. WESTERN, who raced closer to the inside rail than ideal when third on Lingfield’s Polytrack last time, could benefit from first-time blinkers and the return to turf, having run well over course and distance on his second start last year.

CORK 4.05

BARTON KEY (system – Starspangledbanner, 2yo debut, turf)

Progeny of Starspangledbanner tend to be precocious and backing the juvenile newcomers on turf would have found 32 winners from 208 bets (15.4% strike-rate) for a profit of £44.11 to a £1 level stake at SP. Unexpected Issues was backed from 8-1 into 2-1 when scoring on this angle (tipped in this column) at Navan earlier this week and perhaps BARTON KEY can follow suit.

CORK 7.35

EAGLE OF DESTINY (system – Paddy Twomey newcomers)

In-form Paddy Twomey has a 26 from 111 record with his newcomers and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £61.93 to a £1 level stake at SP. He does especially well in Class E maidens and EAGLE OF DESTINY, a daughter of Gleneagles who cost 175,000euroes as a yearling, fits the bill in this 1m2f contest.

NOTTINGHAM 8.18

LOPE DE RUEDA (system – Rebecca Menzies / The Horse Watchers)

Trainer Rebecca Menzies does well with Flat horses owned by The Horse Watchers, scoring with eight of the 33 qualifiers for a profit of £17.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. LOPE DE RUEDA went off too hard over 7f at Thirsk last time, fading into a 28-1 11th of 14 and is worth a small bet in the hope that the drop to 5f brings about the required improvement.
