Legendary horse racing trainer, Willie Mullins, is back for this year’s Cheltenham aiming to train the most winners for a fifth consecutive year at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. He is well on his way to being Top Trainer again here at Cheltenham and has 23 more runners on Day 4. Willie Mullins has been the top trainer a record nine Cheltenham Festivals. He won his first ‘Top Trainer’ crown back in 2011 and has since won that title another eight times. Mullins has been the top trainer at the Cheltenham Festival for the past four years in a row and will aim to make that a fifth this time around. The Irish racing trainer will be hoping to replicate this form with a stellar showing at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.

The 66-year-old has over 90 winners now to his name in the Cheltenham Festival. This includes two Gold Cups, four Champions Hurdles, seven Supreme Novices’ Hurdles and five Ballymore Novices’ Hurdles to name but a few.

On Day 4, Willie Mullins has 23 intended runners on Friday 17th March. These runners include Galopin Des Champs, who is the betting favourite in the Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase (2/1). Plus, Mullins has plenty of other runners and some big players such as Lossimouth in the Triumph Hurdle (1.30pm), Allegorie De Vassy in the Mares’ Chase (4.50pm) and Billaway in the Hunters’ Chase (4.10pm).

The 2019 & 2020 back-to-back Gold Cup winning-trainer with Al Boum Photo also has 22 more runners on day one along with Galopin Des Champs on Day 4.

The Irish trainer believes hie has a few excellent chances to win some races on Day 4 such as Lossiemouth, Blood Destiny and Gala Marceau in the Triumph Hurdle. Mullins’ certainly has a few other big chances on Day 4 at Cheltenham this year too and is well on course to becoming Top Jockey once again at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.

Mullins is priced at 1/11 as the overriding betting favourite to be the 2023 Cheltenham Festival Top Trainer.
