Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew starts the New Year with three recommended bets/trades at Cheltenham and Exeter on Monday, January 1st. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

CHELTENHAM 12.20

Nicky Henderson has a cracking record in the second half of the peak jumps season with hurdlers returning from wind surgery and backing all the qualifiers from January to April would have found 13 winners from 46 bets for a profit of £42.91 to a £1 level stake at SP.  The last three qualifiers all won (9-1, 7-1 and 100-30) and perhaps PEAKY BOY, successful in a soft-ground Newcastle bumper for Michael Scudamore in November 2022 when last seen on a racecourse and can make a winning stable/hurdles debut. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back PEAKY BOY in Cheltenham 12.20

CHELTENHAM 12.55

MATATA tends to jump/hang to his left and he ran out when 13-8 favourite at Wincanton in February of last year. Since then, connections have wisely kept him to left-handed venues and he took his record in this direction, below Grade 1 level, to 12211 (3-5) when scoring by ten lengths on his chase debut at Ffos Las in mid-October. The six-year-old can land this Class 3 novices’ limited handicap chase before going on to better things. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back MATATA in Cheltenham 12.55

EXETER 2.10

The Exeter novices’ hurdle won by Gidleigh Park on November 20th is working out well, with the winner bolting up at Newbury, the runner-up (Range) scoring at Chepstow, the 50-1 fourth (Koenigsstern) just missing out on a place at Plumpton and the 300-1 sixth Wellwillya running third here at Exeter. RANGATIRA JACK, seven lengths in front of Wellwillya when a 200-1 fifth of 13 in that contest, is probably going to be one for handicaps further down the line but could sneak into the frame at a juicy price. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (each-way).

Recommendation: Back RANGATIRA JACK in Exeter 2.10
