2023 Scottish Grand National Winner Will Get £28k More Prize Money Than Last Year

This means the 2023 winner of the Ayr race will get a cool £28,135 extra based on 12 months ago. With the placed horses also set for an increased purse.

David Brown (Ayr Racecourse Managing Director) said: “We’ve been working hard to get our biggest race in the jumping calendar up to £200,000 and we’re delighted that our ongoing partnership with Coral has helped us make sure that the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival will be one of the biggest 2-day jumps fixtures of the year.”

“The race is a major part of sporting life in Scotland and we look forward to hosting another high-class field of staying chasers for an event with a rich racing history, with our supporting races over the 2 days sure to attract major interest from Britain and Ireland.”

The Scottish Grand National Is the Third Most Valuable Handicap Chase In Britain

With the increased prize fund for the 2023 Scottish Grand National, this also means the 4m Ayr race is now back in third place in the ‘most valuable chase races in Britain’ league table.

Of course, the Aintree Grand National, which was won last weekend by the Lucinda Russell-trained Corach Rambler, top the table as the most valuable handicap horse race over fences.

The Rambler won his connections a cool £500,000 for taking the Liverpool showcase race.

It’s the Coral Cup at Newbury (the old Hennessy Gold Cup to ageing racing fans) that sits in second place with £142,375 going to the 2023 winner Le Milos this season.
