Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew heads to day two of York’s Dante Festival for his two recommended bets/trades on Thursday, May 16th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

YORK 2.45

York’s ground was slower than expected yesterday and there might still be enough juice in it to assist GREY’S MONUMENT in the 1m Hambleton Handicap. Ralph Beckett’s four-year-old has won twice on officially good to soft going, including over today’s course and distance, and caught the eye in Listed company behind Charyn (winner again since) in Listed company at Doncaster on his return to action. He made the running into the strong headwind that day and was never going to last home, making his third place worthy of an upgrade. Today’s race is only his second since gelded and there could be improvement to come. Stall 14 is not necessarily ideal, but he has the early speed to get a good early position and I like the booking of Rossa Ryan. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back GREY’S MONUMENT in York 2.45

YORK 4.15

BIG EVS understandably dominates the market for the Listed Westow Stakes on his first start since last November’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint success but might not be the good thing his skinny odd suggest. Mick Appleby’s son of Blue Point ran a shocker over course and distance in the Nunthorpe last season and is clearly using this as a prep before Royal Ascot next month. If he’s going to underperform it will be at this venue on his seasonal return and he could be worth taking on. Rather than sell him in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market the horse to side with is DARK VINTAGE from the in-form Richard Fahey yard. The son of Dark Angel is something of an unknown quantity having raced just once in Britain but that run – a 22-1 sixth at Sandown – was backed up by a fast time and today’s first-time visor could bring about improvement. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back DARK VINTAGE in York 4.15
