United Kingdom Eurovision Odds

Being one of the ‘Big Five’ economic contributors to broadcasting and organisers, as well as being this year’s host nation, the UK have automatically qualified for this weekend’s final.

London-based singer-songwriter Mae Muller, who will perform in Liverpool on Saturday with her ‘I Wrote a Song’ entry, has already featured on a US top 40 single in her relatively short career.

That was two years ago, when she collaborated with Swedish music group Neiked and American rapper Polo G, but two years prior she released her first studio album, Chapter 1, while she also supported UK girl group Little Mix on their LM5: The Tour in the same year.

Muller will be the last to perform on Saturday, which may work in her favour when voters flood in with their verdict as it will still be fresh in their minds.

The United Kingdom Eurovision odds sit at a current price of 40/1 – here are a whole host of nations pegged as warmer favourites than the hosts, but the hard hitting tune that Muller says deals with the “defeat following a breakup” and how to feel empowered afterwards, holds a lot of substance.

The host nation has won a total of five times since the singing contest began in 1956, but the UK last triumphed 26 years ago with Katrina and the Waves.
