Racing Tips: Andrew Mount’s Spreadex Analysis – Sunday, December 31st

Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew heads to Lingfield (all-weather) and Punchestown for his two recommended bets/trades on New Year’s Eve (Sunday, December 31st). Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

LINGFIELD JOCKEYS

TOM MARQUAND has been flying high in Japan this winter but it’s going to be a shock to the system in the cold and rain at Lingfield this afternoon. It must be difficult for jockeys to motivate themselves on the all-weather in Britain after returning from sunnier climates and, since 2021, Marquand is just 41 from 331 (12.4%) when riding on the all-weather in December, January and February for a loss of £142.76 to a £1 level stake at SP (-43.13% on turnover). The expected number of winners, based on their prices, was 57.07, giving an actual over expected score of 0.72. Marquand might also be unfamiliar with the bias at Lingfield this winter (the inside rail usually rides ‘dead’) and he can be sold in the LINGFIELD JOCKEYS MARKET with Spreadex.

Recommendation: Sell TOM MARQUAND in Lingfield Jockeys

PUNCHESTOWN 1.15

KINGS HALO is likely to be popular in the betting for this 3m handicap chase after justifying strong support in a 2m5.5f handicap chase at Tramore late last month but it was a big advantage to race/challenge wide that day and he was on the quickest part of the track, suggesting he was flattered. The 8lb rise could be harsh and he looks one to sell in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose KINGS HALO in Punchestown 1.15
