Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew enjoyed an each-way return with COCHIN (3rd, 12-1) on Thursday and has three recommended bets/trades on Friday, September 2nd. Follow his tips on horse racing betting sites throughout the year.

HAYDOCK 1.53

The early pace held up in the vast majority of the round-course (7f+) races at Haydock on Thursday, with the winners described by the Racing Post as…

  • Made virtually all
  • Prominent, led after 1f
  • In touch with leaders
  • Made all
  • Made all
  • Held up in rear

Pace angle YORKINDNESS opened her account at the eighth attempt when odds-on at Hamilton last time and could have more to offer now that she’s got her head in front. Rossa Ryan is a good booking (his first ride for the Johnston yard) and Haydock’s long straight will suit.

Ryan has only had 25 rides at Haydock that started in the first three in the betting, with eight winning (32% strike-rate) for a profit of £14.50. Yorkindness was the 11-2 third favourite at the time of writing. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back YORKINDNESS in Haydock 1.53

KEMPTON 7.55

COUNTRY PYLE was a big eyecatcher when second at Lingfield last time, doing best of those to race prominently in a 2m Class 3 handicap that was run to suit patient types. The winner, third, fourth, fifth and sixth all came from midfield or further back and he had the next prominent racer almost five lengths back.

He’s hardly prolific – winning just once from eight starts – but form figures on anything other than soft going of 23334132 (1-8), with the fourth place in a 20-runner handicap, suggest he’ll be hard to kick out of the frame. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Those looking for a potential big return to small stakes might want to consider the Country Pyle/SEA APPEAL forecast. Sea Appeal ran in the same Lingfield contest as the selection last time and though only eighth, he actually fared third best of those to race up with the strong early pace.

Recommendation: Back COUNTRY PYLE in Kempton 7.55

KEMPTON 8.25

The usual bias to low-drawn runners at Kempton has gone missing of late, though it can still be very difficult to win from a high draw. In horse racing, we tend to deal in extremes – high draws or low draws, frontrunners or hold-up horses – but we tend to ignore the centre ground in draw and pace analysis.

This year, had we simply bet all horses drawn in stalls 6, 7 or 8 in big-field Kempton handicaps (10 or more runners) we’d have won 27 of our 189 bets (14.3%) and made a profit of £83.58 to a £1 level stake at SP. The expected number of winners based on their odds was just over 17.

Those who raced within the past three weeks were 17 from 92 for a huge profit of £124.08 and PEGGOTY is the sole qualifier in this 6f handicap. She got off the mark in comfortable fashion at Chelmsford last time, clocking a good speed figure according to Proform’s ratings.

Recommendation: Back PEGGOTY in Kempton 8.25
