Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:

Andrew returns from a short break with two recommended bets/trades at Lingfield and Musselburgh on Friday, April 5th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

LINGFIELD 3.30

COGSWORTH hinted at ability on turf last year but has shown precious little on the all-weather, recording form figures of 11th of 13, 11th of 11, 10th of 11, 6th of 11, 9th of 9 and 7th of 11. He’s been dropped another 3lb to a mark of 52 but could be yet another son of Time Test who struggles in all-weather sprints. Progeny of the sire are 0-42 when racing over 5f-6f on synthetics and he can be sold in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose COGSWORTH in Lingfield 3.30

MUSSELBURGH 5.40

All the overnight support in this 2m1.5f juvenile handicap hurdle has been for GOLDEN MAVERICK (10-11 from 2-1) and that has helped push LATIN VERSE out to a very backable price (13-2 with Spreadex at the time of writing). Syd Hosie’s gelding was a huge eyecatcher at Ludlow on his penultimate start, bolting up by 19 lengths in a fast time, despite racing in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail when the better ground was on the outer. He disappointed in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham, despite going off at 14-1 from the early 33s, but the drop in grade and return to an easier track will suit. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back LATIN VERSE in Musselburgh 5.40
