The ITV horse racing cameras will be at Epsom on Saturday to cover ALL 8 races on Derby Day – mixing the action across their main ITV channel and ITV4.
ITV Horse Racing Cameras To Broadcast ALL 8 Epsom Races On Derby Day
Great news for horse racing fans this Saturday on Derby Day at Epsom as the ITV horse racing team will be on air to show ALL 8 races across the afternoon.
The action gets going at 12:50 for the Diomed Stakes – and for those that don’t know ‘Diomed’ was the first ever Epsom Derby winner back in 1780.
We then hit the climax early this year as the main event – the Epsom Derby – is the second race of the day at 1:30pm. The race has been moved from it’s normal berth of 4:30pm to avoid a clash with the FA Cup Final which is kicking off at 3pm.
The first two races will get the star billing and be shown on the main ITV channel before a quick switch over to ITV4 to see the remaining six races that include the ‘Dash’ Handicap run over what is deemed the quickest 5f track in the world.
We’ve also the newly-named Lester Piggott Handicap at 3:55, which will now be run in honour of the 9-time winning Derby rider, who sadly died last year. Plus, Epsom racegoers can also expect to see former Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand at the track as his Charity Foundation is sponsoring the Northern Dancer Handicap at 4:30pm.
