Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has confirmed that talks are ongoing with Barcelona ahead of a summer move away from the Premier League.

Despite the ongoing talks, the German confirmed that “no signings have been made yet”.

Gundogan has been linked with a move to the La Liga leaders for some time, but talks now look to be heating up.

A report from Spanish outler Sport claimed that the Blaugrana scouts were in attendance for City’s first leg win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, where Gundogan shone as Pep Guardiola’s side won 3-0 against the German champions.

Barca are said to be looking to add quality in their midfield, with the 32-year-old being identified as a key candidate.

Luckily for Barcelona, the four-time Premier League winner’s contract comes to an end this summer, so no transfer fee is required.

Speaking to the media following Manchester City’s advancement to the Champions League semi-final, Gundogan was asked about his prospective move to Barcelona.

“My future is not yet decided. Sure, there are talks in the background. But I won’t go into details now.” he said.

“I’m happy to be here at Man City and to be the captain, but no signings have been made anywhere yet.”

With just months left on his contract at the Etihad, Gundogan will be looking to bow out in style.

Four Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups and one FA Cup comprises his honours in Manchester, with just the Champions League eluding him.

But with City’s advancement to the final four of the competition once again, this is certainly a feat that could be achieved before his departure.
