The Richard Hobson-trained FUGITIF is Cheltenham course specialist – despite not winning there yet.
Yes, this talented 8 year-old chaser is still to win at Prestbury Park, but the horse has three seconds to his name in as many runs and despite not recording that elusive win, it’s still cracking course stats to bring to a race like the Paddy Power Gold Cup.
The most-recent of those silver medals was in the Plate Handicap Chase at the Fesitval in March – beaten by 2 lengths behind Seddon (watch below) and a repeat of that effort would see him go well on Saturday.
After that run he was in action at Aintree at their Grand National fixture in the Marsh Chase, but failed to impress in that tougher grade and flatter track to eventually finish a well-beaten fifth.
He’s had a break since and back as this favoured Cheltenham he can be expected to go well. He’s also gone well fresh in the past and was second at this fixture last season in the Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase – the first live ITV4 race on the Friday.
