1.30: Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle ITV4 – IMPAIRE ET PASSE @ 7/4 with BoyleSports
Trainer Willie Mullins won this 12 months and looks to hold a strong hand again with this unbeaten 5 year-old. Impaire Et Passe has won all three starts to date and was super impressive in taking the Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle last time out. The longer trip is also expected to suit and it’s hard to see anything but another solid run here. Gaelic Warrior, Good Land and Hermes Allen look the obvious threats.
2.10: Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase ITV1 – GERRI COLOMBE @ 13/8 with BoyleSports
Another unbeaten runner putting his record on the line here. This Gordon Elliott 7 year-old has won all 7 starts to date and was impressive in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase last time at Sandown. Gerri Colombe looked better the further he’s gone and so the extra yardage here also looks a bonus. Sir Gerhard and The Real Whacker can give him most to think about.
3.30: Queen Mother Champion Chase ITV1 – EDWARDSTONE @ 6/4 with BoyleSports
It’s the battle of the ‘E’s’ here as last year’s winner Energumene takes on the 2022 Arkle winner Edwardstone, plus Editeur Du Gite, who beat them both last time. Of the trio, you can make cases for them all – but it’s Edwardstone that edges it. 7 of the last 12 Arkle winners have followed up the following season in this race and Edwardstone was also impressive this season in the Tingle Creek – another good guide for the Champion Chase.
4.10: Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase ITV1 – GALVIN @ 9/4 with BoyleSports
The Cross-Country race is not to everyone’s liking, but this year we two class acts in Delta Work and Galvin running. The former is the current champ and has since run third in the Grand National. However, this year he takes on Galvin, who is rated 7lbs higher and brings even more class to the race. Yes, this will be his first try over these fences, but the Gordon Elliott yard are masters at doing just that. He was 4th in the Gold Cup last year too and has Festival-winning form after taking the NH Chase back in 2021.
