Cheltenham Festival Trends on Day Two: Wednesday 15th March 2023

Onto day two at the Cheltenham Festival folks and another jam-packed day with seven more quality races to look forward too.

We get going with the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at 1:30pm, where the Willie Mullins Cheltenham runner – Impaire Et Passe – will be a popular pick.

Next up is the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (2:10) and all eyes will be on Gerri Colombe from the Gordon Elliott camp as he looks to keep his unbeaten record intact. The competitive Coral Cup (2:50) is the third race on day two – a race with many chances and last year we had a 50/1 winner in the race.

It’s the main race of the day next – the Queen Mother Champion Chase (3:30) – and we are set for a ‘must-see’ contest. Last year’s winner Energumene will be hoping to defend his crown, but will face a stern test from Edwardstone, who took the Arkle Chase last season. 7 of the last 12 Arkle winners have followed up in this race the next season. Lob in Editeur Du Gite too and it’s a great three-way clash.

The Cross Country Chase (4:10) is not everyone’s cup of tea but we get a chance to see last year’s Grand National third Delta Work back to try and win the race again. Then we end with the Grand Annual (4:50) and the Champion Bumper (5:30) – a race Willie Mullins has won 12 times.
