The 2022-23 jumps rankings are out and it’s no shocker to see the Champion Hurdle superstar Constitution Hill and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs leading the way.

2022-23 Jumps Rankings Revealed

With the horse racing 2022-23 jumps season over the final rankings were released on Wednesday 24th May and there were no real shocks at the head of each division.

Gold Cup Winner Galopin Des Champs The Leading Chaser

The Willie Mullins-trained Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Galopin Des Champs led the way over fences with a rating of 179.

However, since taking that feature Cheltenham Festival race, Galopin Des Champs had his colours lowered (2nd) by the Martin Brassel-trained Fasterslow in the Punchestown Gold Cup – but is still rated 11lbs superior to the horse he beat that day.

Galopin Des Champs also remains the warm favourite to successfully defend his Cheltenham Gold Cup crown with the best UK horse racing betting sites @ 2/1.

This put the 7 year-old 4lbs clear of the next best – the 2023 Champion Chaser Energumene, who is also trained by a certain Willie Mullins.

Ryanair Chase victor Shishkin is hanging in there despite many feeling his best days were behind him – the Nicky Henderson chaser rated third best at 173 and some might feel it’s surprising he’s a pound ahead of the King George VI winner Bravemansgame.

Arkle Chase winner El Fabiolo, who is 4-from-4 over fences, is the only novice in the top 10 chasers to figure, while at just 6 year-olds old many feel he’ll be shooting up the chase rankings further in the 2023-24 season.

Constitution Hill Rated 10lbs Superior To Anything Else Over Hurdles

The Nicky Henderson-trained Constitution Hill has been dubbed a ‘machine’ by many and after facile wins this season over hurdles in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, Christmas Hurdle, Champion Hurdle and Aintree Hurdle it’s no shock to see him well clear of the rest in the end-of-season rankings over the smaller obstacles.

Constitution Hill ended the 2022-23 season unbeaten still over hurdles from his 7 runs and won his four starts this term by a total of 41 lengths.

He trounced the Irish Champion Hurdle winner State Man by 9 lengths in the Cheltenham Festival opening day feature (watch below) so it’s about right he’s rated 10lbs higher to that Willie Mullins runner.

Sire Du Berlais turned back the clock to win at both the Aintree and Cheltenham Festivals and is next best at 161, with the improving Impaire Et Passe joining Teahupoo and Klassical Dream on a mark of 160.
