Why Is the Epsom Derby Being Run at 1:30pm This Year?
The Epsom Derby has had several different race dates and times over the years – it used to be run on a Wednesday until 1995, before being switched to a Saturday to gain more attendance and raise its profile.
It’s also normally had a race time later in the day – with the 2022 Derby run at 4:30pm.
However, this is all change in 2023 – for one year only – as the Epsom Derby will be run at the earlier time of 1:30pm.
Why is this? The big UK horse race is clashing with the 2023 FA Cup Final on the same day that sees Manchester rivals – City and United – lock horns at Wembley at 3pm.
