The United Arab Emirates had a mixed path to the RO16 (1W, 1D & 1L) and earned their way through Group A by the skin of their teeth.
The UAE finished second in the group, accumulating four points which is the same as Palestine – but reached the next round with a better goal difference.
Tajikistan entered this stage of the Asian Cup after finishing second in Group A, beating Lebanon, drawing with China and losing to Qatar.
