Passenger has now been supplemented for the 2023 Epsom Derby after his connections forked out the £85,000 price tag to get him into Saturday’s big race – he’ll need to finish fourth or better to get this fee back.
With only two career runs there is every reason to think there is more improvement to come from this Ulysses colt, plus he also didn’t get the best of runs in the Dante at York – only to finish well and be just 1 1/2 lengths down to The Foxes at the line.
Should he make the race, he’ll also represent last year’s winning trainer – Sir Michael Stoute – and could be ridden again by Richard Kingscote, who steered home the 2022 Derby hero Desert Crown too.
Plus, just like Desert Crown last year, Passenger has only had two career outings.
Stoute will be looking for his seventh Derby winner, with his first coming with Shergar in 1981.
