Andy Newton’s ‘LAY OF THE DAY’ Horse Racing Tip On Thursday: 3:35pm Lingfield – BAILEYS WARRIOR
There is every chance jockey Hollie Doyle could make the difference here on BAILEYS WARRIOR after a few close seconds at Wolves and Kempton.
However, the fact remains that this 6 year-old mare is still winless from her 23 career runs.
Yes, she’s hit the crossbar the last three times she’s tried this sort of 2m trip but has actually been raised another pound by the handicapper from last time too.
In this average Class 6 Handicap, she will also be the second topweight in the field and will carry 3lb more in racing weight than last time too.
Doyle is, of course, a decent pilot, but her 4yo+ track stats also tell us she’s had just 35 winners from 231 rides (15%) at Lingfield in that age range.
Sticking with the track, the other slight negative is that this will also be Baileys Warrior’s first ever race here at Lingfield, so we won’t know how the course will suit.
She’s 0-from-18 on the AW tracks with these runs mainly coming at Kempton and Wolves.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1). Then you could lay this horse for £10.
If the horse loses, you will win £10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out £20 (just like a bookmaker would).

You can see the liability if the horse wins would be £18. Or if the horse loses you will win £10 (less any commission).
